LinkedIn apparently thinks it’s perfectly fine to let third degree connections know which companies, schools, industries, and locations your connections hail from…

Remember when you were young, and how exciting it was when you’re expecting a big event like Christmas?
You’re filled with a sense of anticipation. That something significant was about to happen.
It used to be that way with LinkedIn for me.
But now more often it’s like I’ve got an appointment with a doctor and expect bad news…

I probably don’t mean to imply deception as mentioned in the Wikipedia entry for Smoke and Mirrors, but it seemed a good metaphor for the topic at hand – LinkedIn’s “Updated” look.
LinkedIn has revamped the home page in an attempt to look better / cooler.
Is it better – sure. Is it the greatest thing since sliced bread? Probably not…

A friend passed along an interesting email from LinkedIn – and I thought it worth calling out.
Apparently my picture was used to entice her to start using LinkedIn’s mobile app – unfortunately, I’m not a user of mobile apps!

The LinkedIn blog has alerted me to the fact that “profile completeness” has undergone a transformation – and sure enough, my profile is now only 90% complete!
Gasp!
