Just Who Have I Contacted Through LinkedIn?

One of the things I like the most about computer systemns is that I no longer have to remember everything. It’s hard enough to remember the really important stuff – the merely important already takes a back seat. So “useful” information like “have I ever sent a note to John Smith” pretty much drops off the bottom of the list…-)

LinkedIn helps me remember.

LinkedIn messaging – well, it isn’t the best..

First, a little disclaimer – I’m not a fan of the LinkedIn messaging system. It works, but compared to modern messaging systems, it seems to have taken several large steps backwards in the “usability” area – but let’s save that discussion for another day.

Introductions and messages

After you have sent a message to an individual through LinkedIn, you’ll see a notice to that effect at the lower edge of the summary section on their profile. Something like “You have sent 1 message to John including …”

If you need to refresh you memory more, you can click right into the messages.

So don’t sweat it

So the next time you’re wondering what you’ve sent a particular user, just head over to their profile and have a look. (but remember – LinkedIn only knows about LinkedIn communications, so if you sent them an email thought your regular internet account, that won’t be recorded on LinkedIn;-)

To your continued success with LinkedIn,

steve
