LinkedIn’s International Membership

My recent coverage of international connections caused a reader to ask about LinkedIn’s international membership – how big is the site outside the US?

A little searching gives some good numbers…

Network Statistics

This was the first place I thought to look – it provides numbers about all sorts of things.

How many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level connections you have (377, 111k, 4.9m today for me), how many members LinkedIn has (75m today), which regions are most represented in your LinkedIn network (Rochester NY area, NYC area, SF area today for me), which areas are growing fastest, which industries are most represented in your network and a few other miscellaneous stats.

But no, nothing about LinkedIn’s international membership

About

That’s the next likely place to look – and bingo – LinkedIn says it’s about half of their members.

So there we have an answer – about half of the current 75 million LinkedIn members are outside the US.

No small number at all.

LinkedIn in other languages

In case you didn’t know, you can access LinkedIn in the following languages:

  • English
  • Dutch
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Italian
  • Portuguese

So yes – LinkedIn give more than lip-service to those non-US users as well;-)

What are you waiting for?

So yes, go ahead and search the system for your overseas relatives and reconnect;-)

And please remember to drop back here to leave us a few words about how it goes.
