Here’s a bit of a tribute to LinkedIn for all my readers – I hope you enjoy it!
This thread will also help me start a number of postings over the next few weeks as I cover each of these favorite things – to explain them a little further.

And I wrote The LinkedIn Personal Trainer as a concise guide to getting started with LinkedIn – and sell it in both paperback and e-book formats.
This site is dedicated to exploring and using LinkedIn as an extension of that book.

I’ve written nearly 200 additional articles about new features, happenings in the LinkedIn world, and reader questions – and they’re all available to you through the “Archives”, “Categories”, and “Search” sections off in the header or right column.

It happens at in-person networking events all the time, doesn’t it?
You’re standing there talking with Gary when you see Beth walking by – you call out to her, and she stops over. Hopefully sooner than later you say something like “Gary, you know Beth, don’t you?” And when you hear that they don’t know each other, you introduce them.
Once in a while you hear that they’ve struck up a great relationship and they thank you for bringing them together.
That’s absolutely how it happens on LinkedIn too – let me show you…

I’m really excited about creating this program – The Project Solvers and I have developed a workshop on Thursday July 16th for project teams and managers.
Besides the usual questions about how to use LinkedIn, we’ll show participants a tools set that will allow you to run projects effectively through LinkedIn and a few of the additional applications tied into the service.
How can project members communicate across the team?
Is there a way to share project plans and documents?
Can we get feedback from the development community, or the marketplace?
If our project team is scattered across several companies, cities, and continents, how can we setup an environment that lets us all do what we have to do?
All those questions – and more – will be answering for the workshop participants!

Don’t Send An Invitation When You Want An Introduction!

This topic has come up a couple times when I’ve responded to people I don’t know who have invited me to connect. My standard reply is “We don’t know each other, but I’m happy to use this opening as the start of a relationship.”
Every once in a while one will write back saying “Oh – I really wanted to get in touch to ask about …”
