Here’s a bit of a tribute to LinkedIn for all my readers – I hope you enjoy it!
This thread will also help me start a number of postings over the next few weeks as I cover each of these favorite things – to explain them a little further.
Visiting this site for the first time?
If the video has brought you to The LinkedIn Personal Trainer for the very first time, a bit of an introduction is in order.
Hi – I’m steve!
And I wrote The LinkedIn Personal Trainer as a concise guide to getting started with LinkedIn – and sell it in both paperback and e-book formats.
This site is dedicated to exploring and using LinkedIn as an extension of that book.
Archives
I’ve written nearly 200 additional articles about new features, happenings in the LinkedIn world, and reader questions – and they’re all available to you through the “Archives”, “Categories”, and “Search” sections off in the header or right column.
Reader feedback
I’m always interested in the issues you face and looking for material for articles, so please don’t be a stranger. If you leave a comment, or send me a note, I’ll do my very best to respond quickly.
Like what you read?
And lastly, if you like what you’ve read here, please sign up for the email feed (or RSS if you prefer that) in the top right corner.
When you enter your email address, I’ll give you a short note whenever a new article is posted – so you don’t have to keep checking back.
The email will include the headline and first paragraph of the topic – and if you’re not interested, just delete it and move on. If the topic is of interest, there will be a link to click over for the full article.
And spread the word
Perhaps the biggest thing you can do to help me, is to spread the word about this site. If you learned something here, recommend the LinkedInPersonalTrainer.com to others.
As always, I remain committed to your continued success,
steve

I’m not sure how things are with you, but it looks like a good time to show everyone how to work with the job posting feature on LinkedIn.
The system is very powerful for both the candidate and the employer – and I’ll show you how.

A Guest post by Mike
I was laid off about a month ago. Given the state of the economy and my “older worker” status, getting a new job could have been a lengthy ordeal or a mission impossible. Thanks to LinkedIn, I accepted a new position less than three weeks later. It was not just any job. It was, it is – my dream job. By many important measurements, it is a much better job than the one I had.

The blog over at Boolean Black Belt researched the top connected recruiters on LinkedIn and I thought that might make a nice article in the middle of the “Exposing LinkedIn Connection Myths” series.
Let’s have a look…

LinkedIn Introduced a new “Job Seeker Premium Account” feature this past week, and you’ll want to see what is – and is not within it.

LinkedIn and Simply Hired have teamed up to extend LinkedIn connection information into the Simply Hired web site itself. This looks better than where LinkedIn pulls in Simply Hired information into the LinkedIn site;-)
Let’s navigate through this.

I’m happy to present this first hand story of one of my direct connections – from his layoff to reemployment. LinkedIn played a prominent role, and you can see how he used the site to accelerate his job search.
And that’s what I like to hear;-)

Great bit of news – I dropped a message into the box over at jobradio.fm and they’ve put it out on their blog today!-)
Their question – how does an unemployed person deal with that on LinkedIn? They’re up to the sixth response and I’m not sure how far they’ll go – and I thought you might like to have a listen…

Yesterday’s article in the NY Times misses the boat, and I’ve got to call them on it. The shocking suggestion is that networking sites will lead to nepotism. (And by networking sites, they mean ones just like LinkedIn – and since the article only mentions LinkedIn, there’s not much doubt about it…)

One of my E-book purchasers – John – had a couple questions about using LinkedIn specifically around being in a job search mode.
He thought my answers made sense, and I thought they might make a good post…
